The People Of
Iraq
By Guest Editorial Writer James Heth

Already it is beginning to happen. The Iraqis people are starting to believe that we should get out of their country and leave them alone. This idea has become a movement and is being led by the militant cleric Muqtada al-Sadr (yes, that’s spelled right) Tens of thousands of Shiite protesters loyal to him marched in the holy city of Najaf last week demanding that US forces leave the country. Demonstrators denounced the “occupiers” and stomped and torched the American flag. Several Cabinet members threatened to quit the government of Prime Minister Nouri al-Msliki unless he agreed to set a deadline for a U.S. withdrawal. We are now considered to be the “archenemy”. A recent poll taken by Newsweek indicated that 52% of the Iraq people today believe it is alright to kill Americans.. What the Bush Administration cannot seem to understand is that the problems in Iraq can only be solved by the Iraqis themselves and our role as a military referee between the conflicting parties only infuriates both sides against us and it will only be a few months before they join hands and together attack us. Why we stay there has got to be one of the biggest mysteries of all time. No one asked nor were we ever appointed to spread our concept of government and culture across the planet. If we were perfect in our own world we might be permitted to point to our success but we have a few little problems here at home that need our attention and the complete focus of our resources before we have the audacity through force or any other means to convert the world into our clones. Let’s take care of our own back yard and let the Iraqis people tend to their own. Alone. James Heth
