Why?

Why?

All across the land, in coffee shops, by water fountains, on commuter trains and busses and in many neighborhood bars and barber shops people are asking___why?

Why are we in Iraq? What for? And other like questions.

The most cynical among us say for the oil. Others say it was a pay back for Saddam Hussein’s so called attempt to kill George Bush senior.

Then there is the idea that we should foster a democracy in the mid-east so the area would become more stabilized. A flourishing Arab democracy would be a shining example of the superiority of the western way of life.  This thought is considered to be Bush’s grand vision.

Unfortunately no one thought to ask any of the Arab countries and not a single Arab country supported this unpopular vision.

In reality no one really knows exactly why we are in Iraq and even far more puzzling is in spite of over 25,000 killed and wounded why we still stay there?

Equaling mysterious is when are we going to leave?

The overriding speculation is that a new administration will most likely bring this sordid mess to an end.

            Many Americans hope so.
