The NRA

The NRA, AKA, National Republican Association thinking is somewhat difficult to comprehend for. On the one hand they believe any kind of a gun control law is a viable threat to the constitution and yet remain strangely silent about the Military Commission Act, which denies the right of Habeas Corpus which is the keystone of our system of justice.  This so called "Act” allows the government to arrest anyone, anywhere, at anytime and hold them indefinitely, anyplace of their choosing, without telling anyone. Additionally it denies them any legal representation.

The NRA will go completely ballistic if any state tries to pass a law forbidding people from hunting with an anti tank gun, a flame thrower, a fifty caliber machine gun, a howitzer, or any of the nice assault weapons now being offered at gun shows across the country.

Indeed, to fathom that kind of logic is a grand challenge to even the most open-minded among us.

There is no law anywhere in the country nor has anyone ever suggested one that would deny the right for a citizen to own a gun. Still the NRA is quick to rally against an kind of gun control law.
Why?  No one really knows.
