The "noble cause" the administration uses to describe our war with Iraq comes under question when one discovers that even
before one shot was fired billions of dollars of construction contracts were given to Halliburton. Additionally, it was decided
that after the war 75% of the profits from Iraq's oil fields would be divided among BP, Exxon, Halliburton, Shell and the other
western oil companies for a period of 30 years and afterwards 20% forever.
Our war with Iraq will result as the biggest bonanza the oil industry has ever experienced.
And to tide over the American oil barons until the war is over and the Iraq oil flows again, the president in his state of the union speech promised to double our oil reserves which will instantly pour over forty million dollars into their hands.(Text of State Of The Union Speech)
There may well be a regional explosion over this situation in Iraq and we might very well see ourselves at war with the entire middle east and the start of WW III.
Common sense and a minute portion of decency indicates the only solution for us is to leave now and see to it that Iraq's oil industry is intact and that they alone receive the profits. Iraq has no other commodity. For us to be a part of any scheme to take it from them is certainly beyond a criminal act and will be a stain on our flag forever
Consider the hundreds of thousands of Iraqis who have been killed and now those remaining have no drinking water, electricity is something that happens for a few hours a day if at all, and then wonder if this is liberating people and a fair example of a "noble cause"?
