Those in Congress who criticize General Petraeus are demonstrating a severe lack of understanding of the military.  One does not rise to the level of a four star general by questioning the policies of those in the ranks above.

In some strange way summer skies are different than skies of the rest of the year and combined with mountain shadows they can at times be quite spectacular. Yosemite has been beset with many problems and controversy over the years.  Mistakes have been made and mistakes will be made but perhaps, the biggest mistake ever made in or about Yosemite was made in the early 1850’s by Captain Boling when he led a militia into Yosemite in an attempt to round up Chief Tenaya’s tribe of Indians and transport them to a reservation near Fresno and in the process shot and killed Chief Tenaya’s favorite young son.

Gertrude Stein, after wracking her brain for many hours finally gave up and decided the name itself was more descriptive than anything that she, as  a poet, could concoct and so she simply said: “A rose is a rose is a rose is a rose” and was satisfied that she had best described it’s awesome beauty.
