Vacation Time?

By Guest Editorial Writer James Heth

Over three thousand young American men and women in the prime of life so far have been killed in Iraq and many thousands more have been severely wounded. Additionally, well over 600,000 Iraqis have been killed and each and every day these killings continue.  Almost all the Benchmarks set by congress have failed miserably.

Yet, in spite of these ongoing disasters, the Iraq parliament vehemently insists on going on a month long vacation. They plan to vacation for the entire month of August. Why we should leave our troops over there in harms way when the Iraq parliaments number one priority is a vacation and will do nothing else and not even meet is a mind-boggling mystery..

Even Bush must be disgusted with the Iraqis, but will he agree to bring our troops home to safety and let the Iraqis deal with their own problems and face the consequences of their untimely vacation? No, not a chance, instead he demands that we keep doing what we are doing even though what we are doing is continuing with a miserably failed policy. And this man somehow was graduated, not only from high school, but also from Yale? So much for an ivy league education.

Isn’t it about time that we concede the fact that this stupid and immoral adventure in Iraq was and still is a colossal mistake that should have never happened in the first place and most certainly not one to be continued.

If the Iraq parliament doesn’t care enough to postpone a vacation and work on their   problems, why then, oh why, should we care at all?
