Another Big Mistake
By Guest Editorial Writer James Heth

The Bush administration has committed many mistakes but perhaps the most egregious one is the refusal to join the other industrial nations in creating policies to reduce the greenhouse effect that is dangerously raising the temperature of the earth causing a coming parade of disasters unparalleled in the history of the planet. The Bush people have displayed a certain hostility towards a massive report recently given to congress by 2,500 scientist from 153 different countries, coming from academia, industry, governments, green groups, and others stating that we are in serious trouble coming from global warming. The Bushies prefer to side with several right wing groups funded by the people responsible for global warming who are now spending millions in order to discredit the scientific community. So far Exxon has spent over 15 million and now is willing to pay any scientist $10,500 for any article critical of the report. Instead of providing leadership for this problem, what America is providing is doubt. Strangely back in 1992 George Bush senior, signed the Rio Agreement with 153 other countries to begin policies to reduce greenhouse gasses but his son has reversed the direction by appointing a fuel company lobbyist to any position that evolves climate. The record once again is clear; in this administration, right wing ideology commonly supersedes common sense and everything else. The rest of the world looks to Russia now for leadership in this matter. Just another big mistake.
