When the head of state from another country visits the United States he or she should receive a little respect. This is to be expected of a superpower. However the Bush administration, like everything else it does, has botched it. The treatment. the elected head of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadineja (yes, that’s the way they spell it), received this week is quite the opposite. First off our diplomatically and mentally challenged President accused him of genocide before he even arrived, which according to the UN and every other international organization is just simply not true. Then the head of Columbia University who had invited him to speak at Columbia spent several embarrassing sputtering minutes on national television accusing the man of about everything that is horrible. Our gracious and humble of a president did not ever have the common decency to meet with this leader but instead insults and degrade the man Bush and his rubber stamp Cheney and several other crazed right wing neocons, have been sputtering about invading Iran for several months now. However, if he should attempt such a stupid action he could find himself with a full scale revolution on his hands for no American of any stature has suggested such a thing and in fact most have spoken out strongly against the idea. Only Cheney who had so artfully avoided serving in the military during Viet Nam is in favor of such a thing. Such an action would be the complete and absolute end to any respect that America has not already lost.. One can only hope and pray that his father/ mother will intercede and convince “The Decider”, that the world is not his sand box and these are not Tonka Toys he is pushing around in the sand and that he should forget about invading anyone and quietly come back to Crawford Texas.
