        Birds

Some birds are really smart.  Birds like parrots, crows, ravens, and certain finches are noted for their cleverness.  However, some birds are really stupid.  How often have you seen a robin haplessly hopping along on a concrete roadway cocking its head aside listening for a worm as if it could pull one out through four inches of concrete?

And speaking of robins there was a group of them strutting about our front yard the other day obviously unable to tell the difference between the middle of winter and spring.

And so, just like people some birds are smart and some are just plain stupid.

Now the birds living within the mountain shadows as a rule are clever little critters.  At the top of the list are crows which the Indians actually taught to say words.  Then too the various hawks are smart and of course the owls are considered to be wise.
