Mountain Shadows

If you are a skeptic and are tired of being a cynic and would like to embrace a more optimistic outlook on the world then a few moments within mountain shadows might be just the tonic for you. At this time.

Wander off into  the shadow of one of our lovely mountains. Find a meadow that is bristling with wild flowers and just sit quietly and wait.

After a while you might hear a strange kind of buzzing. Watch the flowers and suddenly you will see a whirling of sparkling feathers.  You now are watching a real live miracle taking place.

A humming bird is doing things that simply cannot be done.  It hovers absolutely still and then in a burst of speed and flashing sunlight it lunches backwards and then just as startling it points its beak straight up in the air and zips straight up totally oblivious to gravity doing something that no airplane can do or would ever try.

Though you may not believe in miracles you are watching one.  It stands completely still in the air one moment and a millisecond later is zipping sideways, then backwards and finally into a loop and flits around in font of you just hovering right in front of your very nose and stays there motionless as if hanging on some invisible wire eyeing you with curiosity wondering what kind of a bird you are and what are you   are doing in it’s meadow.

You have been watching a miracle taking place right before your eyes for what you have seen cannot be done.  The bird completely defies the laws of physics.

It is virtually impossible to be a pessimist after watching a humming bird doing its thing.

This is just another one of those priceless things that  happen within the mountain shadows.
