    Defenseless Quails

On this planet, with the possible exception of a newborn infant, there is nothing as defenseless as a quail, nor is there anything as harmless either.  How anyone can consider hunting quail to be a sport challenges the imagination. The little birds stay in clusters on the ground.

These little fluffy birds scurry across the ground like innocent little grey penguins.  They can’t even fly away from danger.  They can only scamper pitifully over the ground hoping to out run whatever is after them.  Oh, they can fly about six or seven feet providing they have a sufficient tail wind to help them along.

How anyone could shoot one of these little creatures is mind boggling. If you should hit one all you might have is a pathetic hand full of bloodied feathers and some shredded flesh.
