Mountain Shadows

There are many lovely sounds that have been created by musicians over the years. What sounds are as pleasant as those delicious piano melodies created by the likes of Sergi Rachmononoff, or the gentle sweet trills of Ravel? This list will grow on to include soaring cathedral like crescendos one hears in the great symphonies. The volume of wondrous man-made sounds is truly amazing. And yet nature is not about to be outdone by any mere human. Take a walk in the deep shadows of a mountain on a warm summer day and beyond the sweet chirping of birdsongs, if you are lucky enough, and listen carefully, you just might be fortunate enough to hear one of the most beautiful sounds on this earth: that of a gurgling mountain brook trickling down over moss covered rocks. You should follow that sound until you come to a spot next to the babbling brook where you may sit down. It is here that you might take off your shoes and socks and let your feet slip carefully into the cool water and just sit and listen to the gentle murmuring of the water. There are but a few sounds on our lovely earth that can match these beautiful sounds of a mountain brook on a warm summer day. When they say, “The best things in life are free.” this is one of those things they are talking about. Sit back and enjoy. James Heth Email: James Heth
