The Old Darrah One Room School  House is ringing with the sound of children and music since school started on September 4th.

Walking through the front door you instantly know this is a hands on school.  There are blocks, drums, books, small trampoline and colorful rugs to sit on.  Plus there is a child's eyelevel aquarium.

They will have Mozart Math, Zoo Phonics and Montessori learning tools along with a great playground outside  There will be 3 hour classes 3 days a week.  The morning class is full with 19 children and the afternoon class has two openings left.  The cost is $120 a month.

Funding for this project has come from First 5 and Kiwanis Fund Raising.  Melissa Matheson is the director and also the President of Kiwanis. Gail Marco is the music director and brings to the school experience and enthusiasm.

The Kiwanis Club of Mariposa is dedicated to making positive change in the lives of children.  "We are excited about our school, Kiwanis Sound of Music Preschool that allows children to grow and learn at their own pace in a child safe and friendly environment" stated in their philosophy.  A loose leaf binder with information on the school was given to each parent at the open house.
