Badger Pass Spring Fest 2007
|
The ski season ended at Badger Pass in Yosemite National Park on Sunday April 1, 2007 with Spring Fest 2007.
There was costume contests, kid's slalom races, a free style competition for the older skiers, a dummy judging contest, a dual
slalom race also for the older skiers and to cap it all off a world cup dummy race. The morning skies were clear and the sun was shining brightly on the highly reflective snow, guaranteeing anyone who did not put on sun protection a first class burn by the end of the day! The ski lifts were turned on and people started lining up to either get in their last runs of the season or to head where the competition was getting ready to come down the hill in the events that they had entered. In the costume contest all entrants were considered winners and all given a bag of M&M's. In the afternoon a band started up and played swing dance music getting the crowd up on it's feet while others went and voted for the best dummy of the day. As the clock ticked forward the crowd was getting ready for the dummy competition to begin. Once the snowmobiles started hooking up the dummy's and towing them to the top of the hill the noise of the crowd could be heard from far way. As the dummy's were given a push to start their journey down the hill some crashed and burned, some came down the hill with great speed, parts were flying off some of them and others slowly but surely made their way down the hill. After the world cup dummy race was over with, the crowd slowly dispersed saying long goodbyes to old and new friends as the clouds moved in overhead giving some the hope that more snow could be on the way. |
