Mariposa County Library Resumes Saturday Schedule
| The Mariposa County Library is pleased to
announce that starting January 29, 2007 the library will be able to reinstate Saturday hours of operation. Each year libraries receive Public Library funds (PLF) that are appropriated annually in the State budget to support the PLF program. The Public Library Fund has the stated intent to embody the state's interest in the general diffusion of information and knowledge through free public libraries; encourage lifelong learning; supplement the system of free public education; help libraries serve as sources of information and inspiration to persons of all ages, cultural backgrounds and economic status; and, furnish a resource for continuing education. The PLF assures the availability to every resident of the state an adequate level of public library service regardless of the taxable wealth of the local jurisdiction providing the service. Mariposa County received an additional $4,173.00 in Public Library Funding which allows for the increase in library operations. The Mariposa County Librarian is increasing an additional half hour on Monday and to reinstate Saturday hours. The additional funds will allow the library to be open an additional four and half hours per week. On Monday and Saturday the library hours will be 9:30 a.m.- 2:00 p.m. Visit the Library: Mariposa County Library |
