The above were all sworn in or re-sworn  into their positions in Mariposa County.




 

After two weeks off the Mariposa County Board of Supervisors re-convened for their first meeting of 2007.

It was a big morning for newly elected and re-elected department heads as they were sworn into their positions.
Tom Brownell sang the National Anthem and God Bless America loud and clear while the Pledge Of Allegiance was led by Representatives of local veterans organizations: Jeff Thorson / Mariposa VFW Post 6042 and Larry Todd / American Legion Post 567

After the swearing in ceremony time was taken for photos and greetings with the public along with refreshments being served.

When re-convening, the next matter at hand was to elect the chairman for 2007. With a unanimous vote Janet Bibby was elected to that position.
Next Lyle Turpin was unanimously elected to the Vice President position.

Newly elected District 1 Supervisor Brad Aborn said he was "Proud to be here".
  PG&E  presented a ceremonial check in the amount of $7,000  for a grant to Mariposa County.


Sheriff Jim Allen presented pins to Jeremy Briese and Lisa Sullivan for 5 years of service, Joe Brantley, Carolyn Jones, Robert Bruner and Shawn Land for 10 years of service and Brian Muller for 25 years of service.

On a vote of 4-1 with Supervisor Janet Bibby opposing County Counsel was reappointed to a four year term commencing  on January 4, 2008.
Janet Bibby questioned why the Resolution had to be signed so far in advance.


In a discussion on Leasing county land in the Hornitos area for grazing, County Counsel was advised to post this property for bidding not just for the adjacent land owners. Supervisor Janet Bibby was also concerned with liability. Also this land has never been leased before to residents of the county.
