Stabbing In Mount Bullion

On Friday, March 9th, 2007 at about 7:00 p.m., Mariposa County sheriff’s deputies responded to the Airport Inn and Bar to investigate a fight and stabbing.  Upon arrival, Mr. Steven Ray Thomas (dob 5/11/1958) was found to have sustained two stab wounds, both to the abdomen.  Thomas was transported by ambulance to the John C. Fremont Emergency Room before being flown to Doctors Medical Center, Modesto.

Deputies identified David Lee Perez (dob 11/25/1978) as the person who stabbed Thomas.  Perez was said to have been accompanied by Monique Andrea Matlack (dob 7/27/1978) and it was determined that both had fled the Airport Inn and were driving to the Los Angeles area.

Arrest warrants were issued for both Perez, for Attempted Homicide –Bail $100,000.00, and for Matlack, for Accessory to Attempted Homicide –Bail $50,000.00.

During the morning of Saturday, March 10th, a Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy stopped Matlack’s vehicle in Norwalk, CA and arrested both Perez and Matlack for the warrants, and impounded Matlack’s vehicle.  On Sunday, March 11th, Mariposa County sheriff’s deputies responded to the Los Angeles area to execute a search warrant to Matlack’s vehicle for related evidence.  Deputies then collected both Perez and Matlack from the LA County Jails, where they were being housed, and transported them to the Mariposa County Adult Detention Facility.

The investigation is continuing.
