Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) The Chowchilla Mountain Womens Club and Mariposa County Fire Safe Council have scheduled a community meeting to hear public comment regarding fire safe communities. Local cooperating agencies, Federal, State, and County, are required by the Federal Healthy Forests Restoration Act to create a collaborative plan to make Mariposa County’s communities as safe as possible from threat of wildland fire. Doing so involves continued effort to create fuel breaks and reduce fuel loading in interface areas. This CWPP community meeting is scheduled for
Tuesday evening, April 24 at 7:00 PM in the Ponderosa Basin Fire Station. Representatives from Sierra National Forest, Cal
Fire, and Mariposa County will make a brief presentation and address individual concerns. For additional information please

LET’S DO CHINA! CONGRATULATIONS! You are invited to join the Mariposa County Chamber of Commerce and Citslinc International, Inc. to experience a nine day trip to China. The second trip to China will take place November 10 – 18, 2007. You will visit memorable sites, both ancient and modern and enjoy a multitude of unforgettable things you may have only dreamed about seeing in your lifetime. We are convinced that this will be one of the most unique trips you will ever have the opportunity to make. Please do not wait too long to decide whether to join us as space is limited and we do not want to leave you behind. This trip is an exceptional value at $1,399.00 per person based on double occupancy and includes your round trip airfare from San Francisco, 4 or 5-Star Hotel accommodations, deluxe tour bus, English speaking guide in each city, three meals a day, and fees for all included attractions. A non-refunable registration fee of $100.00 per person is required at the time you register and if possible should be no later than August 15, 2007 to allow time to obtain the necessary visas. The balance is due on or before September 1, 2007. Securing or updating a passport is your responsibility and you may take care of the required visa yourself if you desire. However, if you wish us to handle the visa application, you will need to provide us with your passport, a signed visa application form, two passport photos and $65.00 before the final due date. Your passport will be returned to you in a timely manner. If you need help with the application form, we can help. A pre-tour briefing (orientation) for all participants will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at the Mariposa Masonic Hall (located at 5154 Jones Street). At this orientation, we will answer all of your questions and familiarize you with the details you will need to know to make the most of your adventure. I suggest you read a few books, visit the sites on line and get to know China before you go. China’s cities are very modern so you will not feel as if you have traveled back in time. We hope you will join us on this unforgettable adventure and if you have any questions please give us a call. We spent 3 weeks in China and know we can peak your interest in seeing this awesome country. Get ready for the 22nd Annual
Coulterville Coyote Howl Get ready for the 22nd Annual Coulterville Coyote Howl. Over the past 22 years coyote howlers have gathered for an annual competition to see who will be the next to win the cash prize and has their name added to the "Howl of Fame." The Coulterville Coyote Howl is a family friendly and entertaining outdoor event with fun for everyone. The day begins with a parade down Main Street. Browse through the great selection of craft vendors, have lunch at one of the food booths, enter to win one of our fabulous prizes in our opportunity drawing or just sit and enjoy the music and entertainment. In the evening, join us for the Coyote Howl Dinner Dance. Coulterville Coyote Howl’s event is a fund-raising event to benefit the Northern Mariposa County History Center. The History Center is a nonprofit organization and is solely supported by membership and donations. The event will raise funds needed to protect and preserve our history. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2007. The parade will be down Main Street, and the vendors will be in the Coulterville County Park located just north of the intersection of Hwy. 49 & Hwy. 132. The event is being presented by a dedicated group of volunteers who have formed the Coyote Howl Planning Committee. Our hope is to educate the public about the history of Northern Mariposa County and Southern Tuolumne County. In partnership with the community, our goal is to raise funds to continue to keep the Northern Mariposa County History Center open to the public and to keep our history alive. For vendor/booth or parade entry information, to volunteer, to become a sponsor, or to purchase dinner tickets, contact Gail Tyler at (209) 878-3015 or email her at nmchc@inreach.com |
