ACORN COOPERATIVE PRESCHOOL VISITS THE
COUNTRY KITCHEN HERB FARM IN LUSHMEADOWS

Acorn Cooperative Preschool, one of Mariposa County's newest preschools, recently visited
the Country Kitchen Herb Farm in Lushmeadows for its March field trip.

Parents and preschoolers enjoyed the morning feeding pygmy goats and chickens and
watching the geese roam freely around the farm and picnic area.

In addition, the Country Kitchen Herb Farm, owned by Donna and David Marks, offered
preschoolers a chance to stroll around trails and a small vineyard, discover beautiful
blooming flower gardens, and smell and touch fresh herbs.

"We're very fortunate to have The Country Kitchen Herb Farm in Mariposa. The farm
exposes young kids and parents to so much in a very peaceful setting," says Wendy
McCully, program director and teacher of the Acorn Cooperative Preschool. "Parents and
preschoolers are able to interact with farm animals and enjoy nature up close. There is so
much for curious preschoolers to see, smell, hear, and touch!"

The field trip ended with a picnic lunch at the farm for preschoolers and their parents.

Acorn Cooperative Preschool is a non-profit program for children under the age of six. The
program is partially funded through a grant from First 5 of Mariposa. Acorn, opened and
formed as a preschool in January 2006 through the dedication and determination of a group
of parents who recognized the need for more early educational opportunities in rural
Mariposa County. The preschool, which is open to students in Mariposa and Madera
counties, is enrolling kids now for Spring 2007.

Acorn Cooperative Preschool does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or
