Mariposa County Unemployment Report For MARCH 2007
 

 

The Mariposa County Unemployment rate for March 2007 stood at 6.9 %. A Decline of .6% from the February report and also the same rate as March of 2006.

The State of California unemployment rate for March was 5.1% a Decline of .1% from the February report and also the same rate as of March 2006.

The United States unemployment rate for March was 4.5% a Decline of a .4% from Febuary and a .3% decline from March 2006.

The above numbers are not adjusted for seasonality.

8,890 people were employed during March in Mariposa County an increase of  1.6% from February  and 2.8% higher than March of 2006.  610 individuals were out looking for work. That compares to 660 residents who were looking for work in Febuary and 620 in March 2006.

240 more residents were employed this March than March 2006.

Of the 8,890 workers 1,890 work for the government, 1,740 work in the leisure and hospitality industry and 10 individuals work on farms.
In March 2006, 1860 people worked in the leisure and hospitality industry compared to 1,740 in March 2007 a drop of 120 workers or about 6.5%.
March 2007 saw an increase of 30 jobs in that field from February 2007.
