MARIPOSA COUNTY DAILY SHERIFF REPORT

Saturday, May 10, 2008
Four fires were reported in the county yesterday with the first fire reported in the early morning hours on Merced Falls Road where grass was on fire.
The second fire was out at McClure Point during the noon hour. The third fire was on Joe Howard Road in the afternoon hours and that fire was an electrical fire. The fourth fire was a vegetation fire on Pilot Peak Road in the early evening hours.
One reported accident in the county yesterday and that accident was a hit and run on 49 North near Mount Bullion that involved property damage.
During the evening hours a prowler was observed on Smith Road.
In the early morning hours suspicious circumstances were reported on the Guadalupe Fire Mountain Road.
Someone on the 140 was having problems with the Mariposa Bear!
On 8th Street a gasoline leak was reported to CDF.
A 12 year old was reported lost in Mariposa.
Out on East Whitlock Road a Chihuahua was lost.
And Finally, Also on East Whitlock Road a caller reported cows were hanging around in the yard!
(Maybe, just maybe that Chihuahua was herding them!)
Two fellows went to do some time yesterday in the county under
 lock and key for various infractions such as Disorderly Conduct and Possible Manufacturing/Selling Dangerous Weapons.


 

   

Friday, May 9, 2008
One fire was reported in the county yesterday and that was a vehicle that was burning on French Camp Road in the later morning hours.
Two accidents were reported in the county yesterday with the first accident taking place by the CYA Camp in the afternoon hours while the second accident took place out on the Jerseydale Road in the late evening hours.
A vehicle was vandalized on Princeton Way.
On Clouds Rest Road someone was trespassing.
A caller from Sherrod Road reported that someone
had been trespassing.
Near the 140 and Hummingbird Road some goats were on the road.
(New road cleanup crew by the county maybe?)
It was one of those suspicious days that happen in the county every so often.
Suspicious circumstance were reported on Happy Isle Road,
Hites Cove Street, West Whitlock Road, Converse Road and at
the Assembly of God Church in Mariposa.
Even a suspicious phone call was received by someone on Cornett's Entrance Road down near Cathey's Valley!
And Finally, At the high school in Mariposa someone was shooting
off bottle rockets.
(We all have to be very aware of how dry this year is going to be and act very safe with anything that could cause a fire!)

Three
fellows went to do some time yesterday in the county under
 lock and key for various infractions such as DUI, Battery and
Inflicting Corporal Injury.
(The Battery and Corporal Injury reports seem to be on a upswing. Makes one wonder if the economy has something to do with this type of violence.)

   
   

Thursday, May 8, 2008
No reported fires in the county yesterday.
One accident was reported in the county yesterday and that accident took place in Yosemite where one school bus ran into another school bus.
Petty theft was reported from the 140 near Catheys Valley in the morning hours and at the Mariposa Middle School while grand theft was reported from Chicharra Way near Coulterville.
At the Rest Stop in Mariposa the restrooms were reported
as being vandalized.
(Yes, we need cameras.)
Someone who was being harassed on Water Street in Coulterville during the afternoon hours resulted in an individual getting a free ride to the pokey.
Out on Ben Hur Road, the caller reported a snake in the house.

And Finally, In the morning hours a bear was hit on 49 South
near Watt Road. This is National Be Bear Aware and Wildlife Stewardship Month so everyone needs to slow down out on the highways and back roads as the bear are on the move.

 lock and key for various infractions such as Under the Influence, Grand Theft, Burglary and Contempt to disobey a court order.

One fire was reported in the county yesterday and that fire was a vehicle
that caught on fire near the intersection of Highway 49 and the 140
in the evening hours.
Two accidents were reported in the county yesterday with the first accident on Park Street in Coulterville, but the responding deputy could
not find the accident as the caller must have left the area.
In the evening hours near the 140 and Jones Street two vehicles were involved in a minor accident according to the CHP.
At 2:30 in the morning hours a caller from Darrah Road said that someone was shooting in the area.
(Poachers maybe?)
A letter was found at the county library.
(Wonder if it was in a book?)
At the Spring Hill High School someone was urinating in public!
In the evening hours an assault and battery was reported at
the county park in Mariposa.
(Another good place to install cameras.)
Out on Dogtown Road a caller reported suspicious circumstances taking place
in the evening hours.
And Finally, On Hirsch Road a Chihuahua was reported lost.
(It can be a big scary world out there for a tiny dog!)

No reported fires in the county yesterday.
One accident was reported in the county and that accident took place on the 140 near Catheys Valley in the early evening hours.
Just after midnight on Woodview Road a caller reported suspicious
 circumstances taking place.
On Gusanillo Road a burglary was reported in the afternoon hours.
In Coulterville on Blanchard road someone was playing disturbing music
 in the evening hours.
Someone was being harassed on Princeton Way.
And Finally, Yes it is that time of year again, on Alamo Creek Road the caller reported the theft of a riding lawn mower.
(We wonder if it had fuel in it, thus making it grand theft
as the report states!)
