Saturday, September 15, 2007 was the Groveland 49er Festival and Chili cook-off. If you came by our booth and didn’t get a card for a FREE recipe for the chili, just e-mail me and I will send it to you. We had so many people come by the booth, many of them came back a second and some a third time! We were moving so very fast to not have a line, that we ran out of chili with just a little of an hour left and lost a lot of votes. We had a great time and look forward to next year. We used fresh produce of the finest quality and it showed in the taste. The great thing about today’s processing is the storage and shipping of vegetables and fruits from across the globe. The selection has never been better because of the availability year-round. But questions certainly come with the bounty. What’s the difference between white and green asparagus? How do you cook malanga? What’s a good substitute for boniato? Along with eating fruits and vegetables, it is essential that you get some sort of exercise if you want to loose weight. Do not take diet pills, because if you do I have a bridge and beachfront property in Arizona for sale. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Dietary Guidelines recommends that you engage in at least some sort of activity most days of the week to become healthy and loose some weight. Any activity you do consistently is the best exercise for you. Start slow, especially if you aren’t
exercising currently. Walking is one of the easiest forms of exercise. When you first began walking, start with a 10-minute
walk at a moderate pace in which your heart rate increases and your breathing becomes faster, but still able to carry on a
conversation. Build to 20-minutes a day in the first few weeks. As you become more fit, increase your time. You’ll find that
if you watch what you eat, how much you eat, and do some exercise you will actually start loosing some weight. But that’s not
the only benefit you’ll receive, think of it, those tight cloths will fit better, stress and anxiety will be less, you’ll feel
better and you’ll actually sleep better. Exercise is not only essential to permanent weight loss, it helps reduce the risk of
cardiovascular disease, hypertension, osteoporosis diabetes, and certain forms of cancer, promotes psychological well being,
and may also help prevent age-related cognitive decline. So, what do you have to loose, oh I guess some weight and maybe gain
a healthy life. Remember, if you would like a personal chef to cook your private dinner party, drop me a line for more
information. Thanx ! Chef Bill Mitchell
