'Twas the night before Chef’s Christmas Dinner 'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house, the only one stirring was the chef not even his helper. The pots and pans were hung with care, in hopes that they would be used very soon. Family and friends were waiting for their faire, while visions of a Christmas dinner waited for them way over there. The chef in his glory and his wife dressed to serve, they waited for their guests to enjoy what they deserved. When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter, the chef sprang from the kitchen to see what was the matter. He ran to the window and opened the door, the lights blinded him like a fierce winter storm. When what to his wondering eyes should appear, but the local delivery truck with his order that came with no fear. He knew in a moment it must be true when they say "one day delivery, our guarantee!" The driver whistled and shouted and called the order by name, now Prime Rib, now vegetables, now potatoes, to the top of the porch to the top of the counter. Now check them in, all the way, all the way. As the dry goods that were before packed inside, now were to meet with an order neatly in a pie. So up to the kitchen stove they flew, with the smell of sugar and great things too. And then in a sound, he heard down the hall, the pinging and panging of the dishwasher singing it's song as it steamed and cleaned. As he drew in his hand and was turning around, the oven warmed up with a wonderful sound. Things that were dressed in fur, from head to foot, were now ready for portion size bursts. The roasting pans that were empty at first, were now looking like they were going to be first. The chefs eyes, how they twinkled, his dimples how merry, his cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry. His happy mouth was drawn up ready to taste, as his readiness began to salivate. The clutch of his knife he held tight in his grip, while the aroma encircled his head with such a nip. His face was ready for his little round smile, that took a taste of his culinary style. He was full and plump like an ol' chef himself, and laughed when he saw in the mirror of course, himself. A wink of his eye and a twist of his head, soon gave everyone to know they had nothing to dread. He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work, and filled all the plates then turned with a jerk, and lying his knife to his side, and giving a nod, he rose to the occasion of his wonderful words, he sprang to his station, to his wife he gave a whistle, and away they went to the dinner table, and then we heard him say, Merry Christmas to all, and now let us pray. With the New Year just around the bend, Cindy and I would like to express our warm regards and goodwill to everyone and hope that this Christmas brings joy and happiness to everyone. We also would like to extend our thoughts and prayers to the men and women and their families in the armed forces for their service to this country and who have served this great nation. Be kind to one another and may God bless you. Chef Bill and Cindy Mitchell
