Weekly Bear Activity

Bears have moved from blackberries and apples to acorns in their push to eat significant amounts of food before winter. Bears can be seen hanging out in and around the oak trees throughout the Valley. We have also seen bears in many of the Valley meadows.

Multiple bears continue to patrol the Valley campgrounds searching for human food. In addition, there have been multiple reports of bears in Curry Village and Housekeeping Camp.

Amazing bear fact John Muir stated in 1871, “bears are made of the same dust as we, breathe the same winds and drink of the same waters,” but remember, they should not eat of the same foods. Please adhere to proper food storage regulations and help save a bear.

SLOW DOWN! 12 bears have been hit by cars this year, along with an unknown number of deer, squirrels and other park animals. Slow down and save Yosemite’s wildlife.
