GALA PARTY FOR SIERRA ART TRAILS

On Saturday, September 22nd, hundreds of artists and art lovers will gather at Stellar Gallery (in Oakhurst) for the grand opening reception of the Sierra Art Trail’s Preview Exhibit. On display will be artwork representing the enormous talents of the 130 participating artists. The doors will open for the party at 4 PM and it will be in full swing until 9 PM. The public is invited to attend this gala party free of charge. Come and see the outstanding works of our wonderful artists.

The preview activities will be enhanced by a potluck buffet provided by participating artists. There will also be wonderful entertainment for the evening event.

After weeks of preparation, the Sierra Art Trails 2007 is ready for a fabulous art experience covering the entire mountain area. Mariposa is proud, once again, to participate with the remarkable talents of our local artists.

The quality and diversity of the work on display in the Preview Exhibit is sure to whet the appetite of visitors planning to attend Sierra Art Trails. Many of the finest painters, woodcarvers, photographers, and jewelry and ceramic artists in the area will be opening their homes, studios and galleries to the public for the show, and have been preparing for the big weekend for months in advance. With so much energy and sincere effort behind the event, there is no doubt that it will be a weekend to remember. It is a milestone in the growth of the art scene in our foothills communities.

The trail itself will take place on October 13th and 14th. Catalog/tickets (for $15 for two) are available for sales in Mariposa at the Visitors Center, Shockley’s Designs, Mariposa County Arts Council, and Odella’s Antiques. This year’s catalog cover is a painting by the renowned artist Donald "Putt" Puttman. He has been a highly regarded of the mountain communities for decades. He is a "must see" on the Trail this year,
