Elections

Americans do a lot of silly things running for offices, like wearing Indian Headdress's, strumming guitars, kissing babies and singing strange songs, but perhaps the silliest things happen in the Iowa caucuses. This system is so complex and so convoluted that each candidate must hire local experts to explain how the system works. At long last the absurdities in Iowa came to an end and two of the candidates have dropped out of the race and Mike Huckabee fooled everyone including himself and won the Republican race with a considerable margin over the front runner Mitt Romney, while on the democratic side Barrack Obama surged far ahead of Hillary Clinton and the multimillionaire claiming to represent the little man took second place. And so the silliness in Iowa came at last to an end and the circus has moved over to the staid state of New Hampshire and what will happen there is anyone’s guess. People in other countries watch this process in utter amazement trying futilely to comprehend the American electoral system something the average American considers in deep awe. The remarkable fact however, is that it works much to the astonishment of everyone.
