Republican Conservative Fiscal Policies
By Guest Editorial Writer James Heth

In 2003 our national debt was $6.4 trillion. However, this administration with the help of a number of conservative think tanks put into force a number of conservative fiscal policies, such as tax cuts for corporations and the very wealthy. As a result of these conservative Republican fiscal policies this administration has managed to raise this debt in just these few short years to now over $9.4 trillion. Additionally the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq are costing us over $16 billion a month with no end in sight. Since 2003 as a nation we have borrowed over $4 trillion using homes as collateral and a number of disastrous things have happened: the value of American real estate diminished by $1 trillion in a matter of months, 600 billion to be incurred by investors holding debt instruments backed by specious credit, American assets in the amount of $414 billion were sold to foreign buyers in 2007, the Federal Reserve in 2008 had to staunch the wounds of New York banks with a transfusion of $200 billion and then another $30 billion to save Bear Stearns. Ah yes, what we need now is another Republican administration to lead us through a recession and into a full scale depression unequaled since 1929. Say what you will about Republican fiscal policies but please remember that they all wear flag pins and go to church regularly.
