The 19th Annual ICES Children's Fair was held Saturday at the Mariposa Park. It was a hands on day for children and their families. Some of those participating were The California Highway Patrol, Cal Fire, Acorn Preschool, STI Telephone and Mariposa Martial Arts Academy. Smokey the Bear and Sparky were two of the favorites. The two characters wandered among the kids shaking hands and giving hugs to the little ones. The Mariposa Martial Arts gave a demonstration and then invited the kids to join in. Smokey and Sparky even participated in the Martial Arts demonstration. STI provided free children's books for kids to take home. There were a number of hands on tables for the children to make"things" from paper and wood. One of the more popular activities was, The Acorn's Preschool, large container full of colored "worms" to stick your hands into. The Firemen mingled with the crowd talking and giving out Firemen's Badges, pencils and stickers. A table with musical instruments allowed the kids to make their own music.

Mariposa counties. The ICES vision is that all parents in the community have access to quality child care and
parenting education. Services include child care resource and referral, child care subsidies, recruitment and
training of child care professionals and parent education and support." |
