BETH HEALEY Will Perform at the Mariposa Butterfly Festival

I own and operate a salon in Mariposa, but I've been singing all
my life. When I lived in the Bay Area, I sang in Dinner Clubs on
the weekends and did some local television in addition to running
my salon there. When my children were young, I was offered a
recording contract, but felt it wasn't in the best interest of
my family to take that path. So, music is my joy and passion and
I've found other outlets to express it. Here in Mariposa I was
honored to have been able to do one of the first Music On The Green
concerts and I did them for many years in a row until my husband
passed away. I also ran a Karaoke Show and DJ'd for weddings etc,
for about 14 years. I took a break from doing live shows for the
last few years, but I haven't stopped singing. In fact, I'm
performing more than ever. I've been doing shows for
International audiences in a virtual world called Secondlife.
We actually broadcast these shows over the internet and sometimes
I'll have 7 or more shows in one weekend. I get to sing to
people all around the world.

I love singing and the songs come from my heart. My playlist
is very diversified. I perform tunes from many different genres;
Blues, Jazz, Pop, Rock, Ballads, Standards, RnB, Soul, Country,
Broadway, Oldies and Showtunes. And, these songs span many
eras, from 40's to the present. At last count, my playlist
is almost 600 tunes and growing, as I'm constantly learning new
material. Lately, I have been concentrating on Jazz, Blues and Standards.
I'm loving it. I've also been learning some new pop tunes.

Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. I'm so excited about
doing a show for the Butterfly Festival and singing for all my
friends and neighbors. I love Mariposa and if you've been in
my salon, you know how much I love butterflies. Hope to see you
there on Sunday May 4th, 2pm-4pm and we will be releasing
butterflies at 3pm, during my show. YIPPEEEE, how fun is that!

String Hill is the musical group scheduled to preform Sunday at Noon in the Arts Park as part of the Butterfly Festival.  This is a pretty laid back group of folks who began playing together just for fun and fellowship about a year and a half ago.  String Hill's music ranges from County, to Folk, to Gospel and even some blue grass.

The band recently added Bass Player, Jim McClintock of Coarsegold, and vocalist and flute player Cindy Miller from Oakhurst.  Other band members include Jenine Haugh, Tom Woodington, Christian Mueller,  Harry Young, all from Oakhurst and Randy LaSalle from Mariposa.  Jenine Hauge plays banjo and guitar.  Christian Mueller plays guitar.  Tom Woodington plays Dobro, and slide guitar.  Harry Young is the drummer and Randy LaSalle plays the mandolin and Auto harp.

Voted “People's Choice” last year in the local media, The Joe Dollar Band is excited to be a part of the entertainment at the 2008 Butterfly Festival. The Joe Dollar Band features Classic Rock Dance Music that is considered safe for family entertainment.

The band formed about two years ago and within the last couple of month added Scott Foster as lead and rhythm guitar. The other members are Mike Zepeda, rhythm and lead guitar. Mike Brenner plays bass guitar and takes care of the awesome sound system. Joe Dollar, the namesake of the band is lead vocalist and drummer.

The Joe Dollar Band will begin playing in the Arts Park on Saturday, May 3rd at 5PM. They will preform until 8PM. For information on the band call (209)742-4661 or Email at joedollarband@yahoo.com.

The Killer Blue Jays Will Perform At The Mariposa County Butterfly Festival

Like a revved-up hot rod, the central valley’s own rock band, The Killer Blues Jays, aim to keep the throttle wide open on rock ‘n’ roll.  With musical tastes that run from 50s rockers Eddie Cochran and Bo Diddley to 70s glam bands like T. Rex and David Bowie, TheKiller Blues Jays have mastered a stripped-down sound and a high energy attitude since first forming 2004.

The Killer Blues Jays can easily move between songs by the Everly Brothers and Tom Petty, New York Dolls and the Sweet.  Basically, if it rocks and if it’s got attitude, the band will play it, pushing each song to the limit with both male and female lead vocals, background singers and percussionists, and a tight three-piece combo that drives the sound into the stratosphere.

The band includes guitarist Mike Meroney, bass player Victor Patton, drummer Robin Shepard, vocalists Mike Bass and Sam Meroney, and background singers and percussionists Mary Bass and Dawn Yesitis
