Many of you have seen Oprah Winfrey’s recent TV show the “Big Give”. The program in part was the inspiration for the upcoming Gold Rush Scramble Golf Tournament which takes place at the Lake Don Pedro Golf & Country Club on May 16th. The Mariposa County Chamber of Commerce is paying it forward and giving back to the North County.  Not only did the Chamber of Commerce choose chamber members we also chose two outstanding organizations who have given of themselves to our community. These upstanding citizens have given endless hours of time and outstanding service towards safety and well being of the North County. The big givers are our North County volunteer firefighters and the Shindig Committee who both have worked tirelessly for us all.

I recently said I believe in mankind this is why; because there are those who believe in paying it forward like our main sponsor The Greeley Hill Market and Mercy Ambulance. The list of big givers goes on to the hole sponsors: Mariposa Family Chiropractic, Yosemite Bank – Mariposa, Cooksey’s Roofing, Northside Signs, Don Epps Concrete, Greeley Hill Market, Inter County Title Co., Supervisor Lyle & Suzanne Turpin, Huff Electric, Coulterville Community Club, Shindig Committee, Roger L. Stevens Insurance, Coulterville Fire Brigade, Hot Diggity Dogs, Coldwell Banker Mountain Leisure Properties, Coyote Howl Committee, Off the Hook Bass Adventures, Mark Colbert, American Cancer Society, Sipes Marine . The Beverage Carts are being sponsored By David & Dale Silverman and Cherylann’s Dining Parlor. If you want to join in the “Big Give” open up your hearts and your wallets then call our Chamber of Commerce at 209-966-2456 or visit www.mariposachamber.org .

Remember it all comes back to you in one form or another. Please get involved by playing golf ($95.00 golf, cart, dinner and goody bag) or sponsor a hole or golf cart ($100.00 your name). If you are not a player then come to the dinner at 6:00 p.m. ($25.00) and join in the fun as well as the cash and prize drawings. Remember you are giving back to those who have been giving to your community.

I must give a big shout out to the directors of The Mariposa County Chamber of Commerce for giving their support to the tournament and to the Gold Rush Golf Committee Paul Hall, Dorothy Kuhnel, Steve Huff, Debbie and Steve Cook.
