Supervisor Janet Bibby presented a Plaque and Resolution to retiring Fish and Game employee Dana Finney for over 23 years of service.

Under Board Information, Updated 1-22-08: Eleanor Kuening was the person who mentioned the Darrah school. They are now not a co-op they are still a pre school and it was under Public Presentation.
Supervisor Dianne Fritz mentioned that the Darrah Road School received it's licensing on January 4, 2008 and is no longer a Pre-School
. Supervisor Bob Pickard mentioned that if the State closed the Mining and Mineral Museum that it would be like a "Nail in the coffin" to Mariposa County. Supervior Lyle Turpin mentioned that there is a new ranger in Groveland for the Stanislaus National Forest.
CAO Rick Benson mentioned a media article that was wrong in how it presented the facts to the public. The Sierra Sun Times wrote about what was mentioned back on Monday December 17, 2007. The Board approved an old 1965 4 Wheel Drive Snow Blower in Yosemite West that has not been run in 4-5 years according to Public Works Director Dana Hertfelder, be considered Surplus Equipment and sold under a sealed bid auction to the highest bidder. Mr. Hertfelder noted that finding parts are hard to get for this old vehicle.

The Board approved an amendment to an agreement to Kleinfelder Inc. for the Don Pedro Wastewater Treatment Plant to pay them a final bill of around $11,000 for testing and observation services. Also $10,000 was approved for tax advice to the law firm of Hanson, Bridgett, Marcus, Vlahos and Rudy due to the contract negotiations with the Sheriff Department.

Supervisor Lyle Turpin led a discussion on what the Stanislaus National Forest proposes to do with the closing of certain forest roads. Coulterville resident and business owner MaryAnn Huff mentioned that Coulterville/Greeley Hill  receives revenue though the money from the dirt bikers/4 wheel drivers who come up and ride these roads as they purchase gas and food from the local businesses.  A comment letter was also discussed that the Supervisors will send to the Forest Service stating their concerns with the closing of these roads.

Supervisor Janet Bibby was selected to the Job Connection Mariposa Governing Board 2008  for representing the Supervisors, also Supervisor Brad Aborn was selected as the Alternate.

On the Ferguson Rock Slide a discussion about finding alternate funding sources for letting longer vehicles into El Portal and the Park though the 140. It was agreed that a meeting should be held with all agencies about the slide.

Mariposa County CAO Richard Benson, led a discussion about the County Fire Department Operational Issues. Also possible direction to Fire Chief Jim Wilson and Mr. Benson about the fire department was to be discussed.
