William Baer Has Concerns about Mariposa County
|
Hi friends and supporters,
The election is over for Mariposa County Supervisor. I did not win and was beat by a good size margin. I am not sad because I loss, but confused. I am not depressed, but concerned. I have learned a lot and have a better understanding on the political process for running for a government office. I would suggest to anyone to try the process and hope you will win. I did my best, but was not good enough. As I look back, I am glad I ran for office. I also made some new friends and found a few new enemies.
The problem I have is that I did a lot of research and as many of you know I check deeper than most people. My research uncovered many facts about the county that I was very surprised and concerned with what was disclosed. I am not sure that Mariposa is the best place for me to live out my life. I also found many problems with the current Board of Supervisors, some not so legal and many actives behind close door. I found that not one of the current Board of Supervisor even knows how to balance a budget, understands the issues of the county, how to do any planning for the future and/or knows how to correct the current/future financial issues. The current ($15mil – plus $15,000 per day in interest) and near future (maybe $50 - $100mil) financial obligations are overwhelming. A friend and neighbor said that during the campaign you never talk about change because people up here want things to stay “as is” and let other figure out how to do that. I understand that people voted for the incumbent because they know him and what he will do (good or bad). I had hoped that people knew me and understood my direction plus the good I could have done for the county.
Thank you for your help and support,
Bill Baer |
