At the first Planning Commission Meeting of 2008 Dave Conway from the Mariposa County Health Department
gave an excellent Power Point demonstration on Wells in Mariposa County, talking about the different types of aquifers along
with nitrates and how they can be treated. When asked from a commissioner about well testing kits Dave Conway replied that he preferred a certified water testing company for the results rather than one of the available test kits from stores. Also that the state standard for Nitrates is 45 milligrams per liter and if your well tests at half that level, that measures should be taken to reduce the levels and then test the water yearly. If you have guests over and they get a stomach sickness that is untraceable, to then test the water itself because your system may be immune to whatever could be in the water. If you install a new well and the initial testing comes up clean then you should have to test only every few years. Further questions about wells and aquifers can be addressed to: Dr. Mosher, Health Officer health@mariposacounty.org This Presentation was originally in a Power Point format, then reconverted into a slide show by the Sierra Sun Times. |
