As the economy continues to deteriorate, we decided to do what we can to help you save some money. So in an occasional series we will update this page on how to keep more of your money in your pocket.

No Prescription Insurance or insurance that is lacking?
Some of these programs will take you if you have insurance, some will not.
First off we will bring back the article from last year that compared the Prescription Card that Mariposa County offers to it's residents and update that with an announcement from Costco.
For the article: The Mariposa County Prescription Discount Card. The conclusion of the article was that this card offered by the county can be a real saver as long as you price shop.

Before useing the County Card or going to Costco ask your doctor if they have any Samples of the medication you are on. Secondly, contact the drug manufactures themselves as they have programs for certain medications that  you may be able to get for free. Also Wal-Mart has a $4.00 program that has certain medications in certain doses and can be only bought in a 30 day supply at the store. To learn more about this program: $4 Prescriptions - Pharmacy - Wal-Mart

To update this article, Costco has now gone nationwide with a new program for people without insurance, offering a discount on certain drugs that they have worked out deals with the drug manufactures. One thing with this offer though is that you must have a Costco Membership, whereas with their regular prescriptions one does not need a Costco Card. You have to apply at the Pharmacy for this program, but the covered drugs are online: Preferred Drug List, but Costco emphasizes that the list can change. To learn more about the program check out: Costco Member Prescription Program

In our second money saver, we mention Costco again as they have a program for your used electronics that just may pay you money! Costco is using a company called GreenSight. They will let you know online the dollar value of what your item is worth and if it has a value will then issue you a Costco gift card for the amount. Either way a shipping label will be sent to you and can be used to mail the item to GreenSight for free!

Before dumping your used computers, DVD players, digital cameras, game systems and many more categories that are available check out: Costco.com Trade-In & Recycle Program
You must have a Costco card for this program.

If you know of any programs or just have some money saving ideas, please Email them to Dollars and $ense
