Coyote Springs is Barricaded!
While Theresa Castaldi was in Mariposa at the Government Center yesterday, Public Works was out at her property
installing cement barricades (like you see on the highway that they use for lane control). Theresa said that last Thursday,
Public Works Director Dana Hertfelder advised her that as long as she gets busy on the permit process they would not shut
down Coyote Springs. That is probably why she was in the Government Center yesterday. What would happen if a wildland
fire was to take place out there, with the barricades in place? The weather outlook for this weekend has the possibility of
T-storms moving out of the mountains and down into the valley.

Statewide the figures change. We have 520,000 acres burned so far. 67 structures have been destroyed. More than
20,000 personnel are out there fighting the fires. We have 1608 fire trucks statewide, more than 100 helicopters and
fixed-wing aircraft. And 81percent of the fires have been contained. And tragically we have lost one firefighter who has
passed away. So our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.
