Long before the U. S. Constitution was written, the Native American Indians formed a pact that decreed that they should all live together in peace. The Iroquois League of Nations was created sometime between 1570 and 1600. At its peak there were six tribes that embraced and supported the agreement; The Iroquois, Seneca’s, Mohawks, Cayuga, Onondaga and in 1772 the Tuscarawas.

This pact set forth a system of government and decision making that many believe served as an inspiration for our U. S. Constitution.

The Native American Indians have left many positive additions to our culture. The Indian League of Nations was one of the most influential ones.
