Paint the Foothills! Sierra Foothill Conservancy
Plein Air Paint Out (In the open air)

The air was crisp with a light wind and the light was that special clear light that inspires artists. The Sierra Foothill Conservancy launched their first Plein Air Invitational at the Trabucco Ranch near Bear Valley. The ranch is owned by Steve and Toni Kellenberg.

The artists all seemed to be enjoying painting and talking with visitors. A couple of artists were up on the top of a nearby hill. Most were scattered out beside the dirt road. Visitors were asked to partake of a glass of wine and hors d' oeuvres, information and tee shirts were also available.

The Conservancy information states, "Works created at this event and over the next year will be auctioned at a benefit to Sierra Foothill Conservancy in two exhibitions, in San Francisco on the Embarcadero and at the Fresno Met in Fall 2010. The intention of this project is to cultivate a broader knowledge of and reverence for the Sierra Foothills as well as exemplify the beauty of open spaces and working ranches. Sierra Foothill Conservancy is a private, non-profit land trust that has worked to protect over 17,000 acres of land in Mariposa, Madera and Fresno Counties."
