A Few of My
Favorite Things in Mariposa

This is part two of a series of reasons to do
your Christmas Shopping in Mariposa.
There is one huge advantage in Christmas
Shopping in Mariposa. NO CROWDS! You don't have to wait in line
and you have people you know to help you pick out gifts. I know
that was three things. Actually I could probably think of about
another dozen.. Today I started off at
Blue Heron Sports where
they have a lot of very nice things for the sports and camping people
on your list. The sleeping bags not only look warm, but they come
in a variety of colors.
The
Top Shoppe has great gifts for the young girls and they
recently started carrying young men's clothing. You can also pick
up a skateboard or two.
You can't go wrong getting those hard to
buy for people fruit and nuts. The selection of goodies is amazing
at the Mariposa Fruit and Nut
Company.
I have been having a hard time finding
many gifts for children in Mariposa, but when I got to
Windows on the World all
my problems were solved.
They have an amazing selection of
children's books and the cutest little puppets. Their children's
room is so inviting I just wanted to spend the rest of the day
there.
A good place to pick up a painting for
the art lover on you list is
Mariposa Yosemite Sierra Artists Gallery. One that really
caught my eye was a painting by Diane Hunter of Longhorns in a snow
storm.
A new store in town is
Bountiful Closet tucked
in next to the Art Council. It has new and gently used men and
women's clothing. Their selection of women's scarves
would make a nice gift for any friend or
relative.
The
Mariposa Art Council has a beautiful mountain painting by
John Bruce along with many other paintings by other artists. Also
tiny
animal painted rocks would make great stocking stuffers.
Chocolate Soup is in a class all by its self. The displays
in each theme room are a visual treat. Since I had not found many
gifts for children in Mariposa I was glad to see two rooms just for
babies and kids. The little baby jacket with ears and a dog to
match was one of my favorites. Lots and lots of beautiful
decorations.
If you are looking for the truly unusual
there is no better place than
Yosemite Gifts. A
huge selection of beautiful jewelry and
fossils, tarantulas, insects, butterflies and dinosaurs are just the
beginning of the exotic choices. Many of the carvings are the
owner's own designs that she has done by a carver.
You know how they say good things come
in small packages, this is true of Our
Country Home. It is a tiny little store with some very
neat and unique gifts. They have a nice selection of porcelain
dolls and a wooden replica of Noah's Ark with animals.
I wasn't able to get all the stores in
Mariposa. It is sometimes hard to find them all open at one time. The thing that surprised me the most was the variety and choices
that Mariposa stores offers. So get out there and get your Christmas Shopping
done and tell them Linda sent you!
