The new Red Cloud Library in Greeley Hill held an Open House on Saturday April 18th, 2009 and was dedicated to the Citizens of Mariposa County. There was a great many people in attendance, for this much anticipated event. Hors d'oeuvres and refreshments were served. The new building is bright and spacious. The children's area has beautifully painted panels with a panoramic mural on the walls, along with a nice seating area, there are even some toys for the children to play with. There's a beautiful computer area with work spaces and several new computers for everyone to enjoy. The main room is large and roomy with many custom wood bookshelves, as well as nice sitting areas for you to get comfortable and enjoy one of the many books that the library has to offer.

The community really pulled together for many years to raise the funding to have the library built. The 'Friends of the Red Cloud Library' were thrilled to finally have the library become a reality. Library Assistant Pam Lagomarsino, as can be seen with Dale Silverman in the photo slide show, was welcoming and very helpful. She was on hand to answer questions and she even signed people up with new library cards. 'Friends of the Red Cloud Library' memberships were also available. The contractor for the library was Verley Construction Inc. and they looked to have done a beautiful job.

The Mariposa County Board of Supervisors will have an official ribbon cutting at the library on Tuesday May 5, 2009.
