Mariposa News - SULTRY SUMMER SHINDIG Calling All Car, Bike Buffs and Music Lovers!

The Show Your Chrome_sm car and motorcycle show will add some sizzle to a hot day filled with the sultry vibes of four great bands…all happening on Saturday, August 1^st at the Coulterville park from 11 am ‘till 8 pm. Classic and antique cars, hot rods and customized bikes ….both inside and surrounding the park… will be vying for a whole host of awards. With both professionally judged and “People’s Choice” categories, including the new perpetual CAMBR (Coulterville America’s Most Beautiful Roadster) inaugural award… everyone can participate. The inaugural CAMR award, sponsored by the Coulterville Community Club, will be awarded to a car inside the park that has the best overall presentation …under the hood, accessories and all. In addition to a show dash plaque and a $5 discount coupon on the Shindig T shirts, all car/bike registrants will receive a free Tri Tip meal, compliments of sponsor Magnolia Saloon.

Four great bands, will add their sizlin sounds while attendees peruse the collection of hot cars and motorcycles and pick their favorites. An assortment of food and merchandise vendors, pie eating contests, and a craft area for kids means fun in the sun…and the shade! A bounce house, sponsored by AC Delco and Allied Auto Store in Fremont will keep the kids hopping all day long. All this and more for just a $5 voluntary donation to help build a permanent stage in the park.

The red hot vibes of Frankenstein59 will start off the day. Snake Oil, sponsored by Greenious, will take over the stage at 1 pm. No Borders Blues will heat up the afternoon with their sultry sounds beginning at 3:30 pm. Then the Number 1 Band in Mariposa (as voted by the People and Businesses of Mariposa in 2007), Joe Dollar, takes front and center from 6 to 8 pm. Their white hot classic rock and blues will help make August 1^st the hottest day of the entire year thanks to sponsor, Yosemite Bank!

ATV Raffle Tickets Now Available!

In addition to a general raffle and a 50/50, the big prize of the day will be a 2008 Honda RECONB 250 cc ATV. There will be a minimum number of tickets that will need to be sold in order to give this great prize. If it isn’t reached, the winner will receive a gift certificate to Gold Rush Honda in Sonora, the sponsor of this drawing, for 50% of the amount raised. Tickets for this big prize are $10 each, 3 for $20, 10 for $50 and 25 for $100. They are available in advance and the winner need not be present! Vendor and Sponsorship Opportunities

Vendor space is filling, but a few spaces remain available. A 10’ by 10’ space is just $35 for merchandise and $65 for food, with a $10 discount for either type for non-profit organizations. It’s not too late to become the main event sponsor or promote your company by becoming a trophy sponsor, a band sponsor or you can support the stage project by becoming a silver, gold and bronze level sponsor. Sponsorships provide positive exposure for the sponsors and offset costs of the event, so that the proceeds can be added to the stage building fund, now at the $16,000 level and with final plans in the works! Raffle donations are also needed. The Mariposa County Chamber of Commerce, the Northern Mariposa County History Center and Huff Electric have also signed on as sponsors.
