The Mariposa County Sheriff Department has just released the 2008 Crime Statistical Report that compares crimes committed in
2008 all the way back to 2001. Other information in the report are the number of calls the department received along with
how many animal control calls came in to dispatch. Domestic Violence reports continued on a downward trend that peaked in 2004 with 228 reports compared to 140 reports in 2008. Crimes against Children reports are also down over half from 2004 when the reports peaked at 66. 2008 had 28 reports on Crimes against Children. Driving Under the Influence Arrests came in at 57 for 2008 a big drop from a peak of 97 arrests in 2006 as an awareness
program in media and on the roads has been in effect.
