It was another fabulous day in Groveland on Saturday September 19, 2009 as the 49'er Festival and Chili Cook-Off enjoyed great weather, as in a little warm with even warmer Chili. The morning kicked off with a Pancake Breakfast (Thanks Miguel) followed by an airplane flyover, including a jet. The parade had over thirty entries and even Jeff Hentz from the Tourism Bureau was there with a truck that had a big banner on the side promoting Yosemite and Mariposa County, Jeff said that this idea is going to be expanded on and to look for an actual float in the future (Fabulous idea).

After the parade everyone made their way to the park where live music, one of the groups, California Dreamin, had the place toe tapping and dancing with music from the 60's. There were Arts and Crafts booths and the park looked to have even more vendors than last year. The live auction had lots of folks bidding on everything from Ironstone Wine to cases of steaks and the Silent Auction featured photographs, wine and other numerous items. Chili cook-off kits were sold and everyone seemed to be sampling and drinking cool refreshments. A new Kid Zone was set up that offered Wii competitions (play those drums), and a big Skateboarding Contest that had winners in a lot of different categories. At the end of the day many trophies were awarded for best chili and the Groveland Fire Department took home many of those trophies for their different varieties of chili.

Nine Chili Cookers entered in the three different categories, Chili with Beans, Chili with out Beans, Vegetarian, and Best Decorated Booth in the 2009 49'er Festival Chili Cook-Off.

The entry's were Hotel Charlotte, Pine Mountain Therapy, Cross Country Cafe, Barbara J's / Marvel Market, Groveland Hotel,  Iron Door Saloon, Buck Meadows Annettes Chili, Groveland Fire Department, 49er Chili Leaders of Good To Go.
