On Saturday, December 19, the 2009 Mariposa Merry Mountain Christmas Parade was held on a beautiful sunny day.  The festivities had to be rescheduled from a dreary rainy Saturday the week before. The holiday crowd waited with anticipation for the parade to begin. The parade was enjoyed by many Mariposa residence and visitors alike. All down the highway people lined the road from Happy Burger to the historic business district which was full of happy parade watchers.

The parade featured many local fire trucks, horses, antique & classic cars and there were even a few floats in this years lineup.  The Mariposa High School Grizzly Band entertained the crowd with holiday music. The Clampers did a ceremonial display of their large United States Flag and had the crowd recite the 'Pledge of Allegiance'. The Merry Mountain Riders, Merced Rodeo, Relay for Life and the Boy & Girl Scouts all showed off their holiday spirit. The Mariposa County Sheriffs Department really did their job well, and showed their holiday spirit, by capturing the Grinch and having him in shackles.

Most participants that were scheduled from the week before found time to participate in the parade and volunteers came out to help in many ways. The judges for the parade this year were: Robert "Bob" Brown, Dianne Fritz, Brad Aborn, Steve Hayes & Betty Williams. The Parade Awards were given out later in the evening at the Historic Mariposa County Courthouse.
