COULTERVILLE’S FREE HOLIDAY DINNER DRAWS LARGE CROWD

Residents of Coulterville and the surrounding community turned out in force to partake in the Holiday camaraderie and enjoy a traditional holiday feast, compliments of the Coulterville Community Club. Record contributions of turkeys and hams fed the 325 hungry people who came by the schoolhouse as well as provided several dozen meals delivered to those unable to participate in person. So much was donated this year that bags of sliced ham and turkey were distributed to local churches after the event. While there was a temporary shortage of dessert midway through the afternoon, additional goodies were quickly brought in for the final hour.

There were two lucky winners that afternoon, with Pete Moon of Lake Don Pedro winning the 50/50 and Coulterville’s Leigh Williams winning the 2 night houseboat excursion. “The proceeds of these two drawings as well as miscellaneous contributions offsets a large part of the cost of producing the dinner,” noted Melynda Morey, CCC president. “But we could not do this without the effort of the entire community. In addition to the outright contributions of the hams, turkeys, and some of the trimmings, we are able to purchase much of the rest at wholesale prices. Then we have all of the folks willing to spend the time and effort to prepare everything in advance as well as those who spend the entire day, or a good chunk of it, doing final preparation and set-up, serving, bussing and cleaning up. Thanks to each and every one of you!”
