The Wild Wonderful King Vintage Museum will be hosting the Abraham Lincoln "Self Made in America" Learning Station Exhibit from March 5 to April 2, 2010. Provided by Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in collaboration with the American Library Association and with funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities, "We the People" program.

Only 40 locations in the United States and only 4 locations in California were fortunate enough to have been chosen to display the exhibit. Oakhurst was chosen because of Lincoln's interest in the Yosemite Grant. On June 30,1864 Lincoln signed the legislation that granted Yosemite to the State of California.

I visited the exhibit, which included seven learning stations, this weekend and found it to be very informative and interesting. One of the displays that touched me the most was the etching of the Gettysburg address. To see just how much was said in such few words was amazing.

I enjoyed talking to a number of well informed docents, and was grateful with special permission that I was allowed to take photos of the exhibit.

The vintage clothing in the other part of the museum was a real treat. Hard to imagine how those ladies got around in those dresses.
