Sal Maccarone has placed one of his “Kinetic Lobby
Sculptures” on display at the Mariposa County Arts
Council gallery. These sculptures, which sometimes take
a year to complete, are wonderful multi-media, three
dimensional pieces of art contained within a beautiful
wooden cabinet. One of Sal’s sculptures was once
described by an art critic in San Francisco as, “A ship
in a bottle in terms of the precision it must of took to
execute”. Normally pre-commissioned for hotels and other
public and private spaces, these pieces do not “stay in
town” long after they are finished. The space in Los
Angeles for which this piece was built is not quite
ready, and the client has agreed to have it on display
in Mariposa until that time.
The gallery is located at 5009 5th Street in the
historic downtown and is open 9:00 – 5:00 Monday through
