2010 Miss 'Merced County Fair' Rodeo Queen Contest

Mariposa resident, Katy Casner, is among several young ladies who are competing in this year’s Merced County Fair Rodeo Queen Competition.

Casner, a long time 4H member and member of the Mariposa Mountain Riders is currently in her Junior year at Mariposa County High School and this is her third year as teen leader for the 4H Horse Project.

Casner enjoys competing in local horse shows with her horses, most recently she qualified for an Elite class at the 4H State Classic, which is to be held in Watsonville in June. An avid soccer player, she is currently on the varsity soccer team and plays on a club team outside of school. Besides hanging out with her friends she also enjoys shopping on line.

The Merced Queen Competition recognizes attributes such as horsemanship, personality, speaking, appearance and the promotion of the sport of rodeo.

On May 22 the contestants will participate in an On Stage Performance at the Merced County Fairgrounds. Their Horsemanship Competition takes place at 9 a.m. on May 23 at the Merced Horsemen’s Arena where spectators are welcome to attend.

On Friday, June 18th the contestants will assist at “The Special Rodeo, Friends Helping Friends” and later in the day, prior to the rodeo, the reining 2009 Queen, Ashley Boyles of Merced, will crown the 2010 Queen.
