Off of the Goldrushcam Front Page: CDF says it could be a very busy fire season. Clean around your house, get 100 feet of clearance !! Angels Camp is going to have a Farmers Market this year on Friday nights. Whats up Mariposa ? Why do we not have a farmers market ? Yes there is one up on Darrah and Triangle. But I mean one put on by the city. And a article about the rain damaging the cherry and strawberry crop. We love strawberries ! Hope the crop is not too badly damaged. |

"CDF says it could be a very busy fire season. " lol I can easily predict they would say that each and every year. Or they could say.. "heck, it's gonna be a very mild fire season. Won't be much for us to do, cept' wash the ol' firetrucks. So, yeah we could cut the staff back a bit." Now that would really be a surprise.. They're great folks, and needed. But rarely a surprise in their predictions.

Then again, it probably was the newspaper probing for an extreme statement.. They tend to like such things. I remember the news crew coming out after a storm in the town of Rio Vista, that I once lived in. The reporter put on all this rain gear, found a puddle to stand in, and claimed Rio Vista was flooding. funny stuff |

Hi Randy, I once had an old grocer tell me about produce. How all the time the produce farmers never had a good year !! But there they were year after year selling produce !!! And yes I have a video from Katrina that showed the reporter in a canoe, when someone walked by in front of the canoe showing the water was not deep. Be careful what you read and see. By the way, hope your weekend was great ! |

Spent four hours listening to the Mariposa Board of Supervisors Meeting today. Look for an update in the morning hours as my notes have to be put in order. Channel 3 was in Mariposa today doing a report on the slide and the effect on the local economy. If you get channel 3 look for it tonight or tomorrow.

Here is another funny story. I owned a pizza parlor, and noticed a big increase in my mushroom costs. Next time my salesman came in for the weekly order, I demanded an explaination. His answer was that the fields were wet and the tractors were getting stuck in the fields harvesting the mushrooms. (I am here chuckeling from this story as I type this.) He told this with a straight face. He either believed it himself, or was one heck of a liar. Either way, after I explained to him how mushrooms were grown and harvested he brought the price back down to normal.

Boy, the pizza story makes me think of what's happening with the rising gas prices. I think the oil companies "make up" a lot of the reasons for high prices. It amazes me that they are making RECORD profits, with NO manipulation (gouging) of the prices. Their solution is to keep drilling, instead of possibly not making such high profits. Isn't greed amazing! It shows how much they care about the average person. |
