Another Friday, Another Weekend !! Time for a getaway or backyard relaxing. The 140 apparently is closed again as of 7:30 this morning both the website and the phone recording announce the road is closed. It was supposed to be open yesterday, maybe they determined the ground is still unstable. But you can detour through Mariposa onto Highway 49 North to J132 in Coulterville to arrive in Yosemite or Highway 49 South into Oakhurst to Highway 41 to the south entrance of Yosemite. Here is the shortcut link to the Goldrushcam Special Weekend Out and About section; http://www.goldrushcam.com/goldrushcam__out_and_about_weeke.htm Drive safe and have a fun weekend and please give some time to think about the people who have given their lives so we can enjoy the freedom we have in this country !! Wow, I love when you put butterfly pictures on. How close do you get for these close-up shots? |

Yesterday a Fedex guy said the road has already been shut down and then reopened again and there were probably 15 other slides along the road beside the main slide. They have people standing there with red flags just watching and if they put the red flag up they stop the cars and wait for the rocks to slide. |

Thanks for the nice comment on the butterfly photo Elizabeth. That photo was taken in the early evening hours with the ISO way boosted to I think 800 and using a 400mmm lens. So I was about Six feet or more back from the little guy ! |

Thanks for the info Rochelle !! I just was talking with the Mariposa Information Center and was told the road will be closed for awhile as the slide keeps moving. How long it will be closed, he did not know. |
