As the month of May comes to a close, we will remember the weather as it started out nice, then kept getting warmer and warmer (Some might say hot!) until we topped out up here at 86.1 on the 18th. Then we started to slide backwards in high temps until the 27th when the high was 59.3 with a low of 36.9 and here at the Goldrushcam Headquarters we fired the wood stove back up for a night !! Now as the month comes to a close the temps are warming back up to normal. Goodbye May, now just memories !! |

From the front page of the Goldrushcam. Check out the bear video at the school in Coarsegold. It will make you check your yard before you put little Duke out in the morning !! A garden book author will be in Sonora on Thursday. Get a signed copy ! Bald Eagles are spotted in Coarsegold. Finally the Mariposa Sheriff Department has photos online of the slide on the 140. Did some engineer really think that chain link fence was going to be strong enough ? Or was it just a slight miscalculation |

A message was sent to me from a long time reader on how to deal with mosquitoes, so we decided to share this info with all who read us everyday. use bounce fabric softener sheets - just wipe exposed skin... i've heard this - also, just tie a sheet onto your clothing. one vitamin b-1 tablet a day april through october . vitamin b-1( thiamine hydrochloride 100 mg.) stop eating bananas for the summer and the mosquitos will be much less interested. vick's vaporub. plant marigolds around the yard, the flowers give off a smell that bugs do not like "tough guy" marines who spend a great deal of time "camping out" say that the very best mosquito repellant you can use is avon skin-so-soft bath oil mixed about half and half with alcohol. the pure vanilla that is sold in mexico. it works great for mosquitoes and ticks, don't know about other insects. When all else fails--get a frog Thanks for the info !! |
